Tathra bush fires needs Royal Commission

I see now these claims firming up – Tathra bushfire: Union says more homes would be standing if not for ‘turf war’ between fire services – Early last summer I posted – Why not the RAAF to operate large air tankers? Aerial views show Tathra to be totally surrounded by bush to the north-west and west, disaster waiting for the circumstances to fall into place. Sunday 18Mar2018 was forecast to be a hot day so there could be no surprise fire risk was elevated. I heard news that there had been no hazard reduction burns since 2014 and that Council had refused recent burns. I also heard news that I think was saying that the Bega fire trucks were not “fit for purpose” in some way and would have been useless at Tathra.

  1. In a way it’s understandable that the volunteer RFS doesn’t want to be shafted as has the volunteer CFA in Victoria by the Andrews Government and their bully boy UFU/CFMEU masters:

  2. The greens and their policies are the biggest threat to Australia.
Hazard reduction and being able to do what’s necessary to protect ones life and property far outweighs the garbage they push.

  3. A little OT…
As is usual when ever we see bushfires, floods, hot weather, cold weather, or almost any unusual weather event the Greens have once again used the recent bushfires in NSW and Victoria to hype their climate alarm propaganda message.  David Archibald has an interesting article at WUWT which has some Good News for Aussie Greens.

  4. I saw somewhere Slater & Gordon are floating a class action against the Bega Council that refused to do hazard reduction burns.

  5. If it can be demonstrated that the council actually prevented the conduct of hazard reduction burns that would have otherwise taken place, then they are certainly culpable. Whether that can be demonstrated in a court of law is yet to be determined.

Perhaps Slater and Gordon will actually do something useful.
