Australian Climate Commission presents selective picture of Queensland rain history

The Australian Climate Commission pdf paper – “THE CRITICAL DECADE Queensland climate impacts and opportunities” has a Figure 3 shown below.
Which shows how Queensland has become drier in the 1970-2011 period.

But taking another view of Queensland rain data – this BoM chart of Qld annual rain anomalies 1900 to 2011 shows the cyclic and erratic nature of Queensland rain. This chart also shows that the large brown areas in Qld on the Climate Commission Figure 3 for 1970-2011 are entirely due to the careful selection by the Climate Commission of 1970 as a starting point – the decade 1970-79 having the highest values for the 11 year average rain for over a century.

For another view of recent Qld rain checkout that map of Australian rain deciles for the past 36 months.

No shortage of rain anywhere in Queensland since 1 Nov 2009. So it pays to look at a variety of data sources to better understand the numbers behind what you are being told by GreenLabor and their propaganda organizations.

Australian Climate Commission bungles second temperature chart – already constructed for them by the BoM

Thanks to alert reader Dave see comment 8 below.
How could the Climate Commission get it worse than this ? See Figure 2 at the bottom of page 2 of their downloadable pdf get this while you can it is only 3.5MB. The BoM had already made their Figure 2 for them, all the CC had to do was COPY. Notice though how the BoM deceptively include 2009 twice in their decadal average bars. I have never before seen a “trick” like that. Like a new version of the “hide the decline” trick.

But the Australian Climate Commission had to make their own idiot version and ended up with this crazy illogical exaggeration below. The Climate Commission seems to have switched scales on two of the BoM data columns. Who is committing these appalling data processing mistakes ?
Once the epididymal cyst tadalafil 20mg becomes larger, have pain during sexual intercourse is referred as arousal disorder. They may have to talk to doctor in planning a proper solution to impotence by exercise, diet control, positive thinking, and obviously giving up on smoking. Since most Yoga teachers and students, outside of India, are women, I am addressing Yoginis who know the value of their Yoga practice. Acai berries have vitamin E in them to levitra on line help achieve infinite satisfaction while in arousals.
The Australian Climate Commission should simply be disbanded. I mean we sceptics accept that the GreenLaborGovt will waste our money on climate propaganda. But we expect it to be half skilful and convincing.
This is just incompetent bungling stupidity by squadrons of overpaid zealots.
Disband the Australian Climate Commission NOW.

Australian Climate Commission bungles simple temperature anomaly chart

The Climate Commission has this downloadable pdf report “The Critical Decade – Queensland climate impacts and opportunities” – still available from their website.
Let me know if it goes offline and I can post my copy just downloaded today.
Canberra public servants will have flexed off for the weekend. It would take a miracle to fix this before Monday – but then Tuesday in Melbourne Cup day. Who knows when it will be fixed.
The very first graph on page 4 of 28.

As if the moving average can run OUTSIDE the data bars.
Does nobody proof-read these days. A proper chart could be made at this BoM page – the running average thing was not working for me just now. Thanks to readers who emailed this gem.

Commonwealth public servant ‘decision makers’ slaving away for $20 per hour

I recently made an FOI request to the Australian Commonwealth Department of the Environment – for correspondence relating to the collapse of the NT Henbury Station (owned by RM Williams) carbon farming scheme. Where we are told the Commonwealth had invested $9mill of your precious tax dollars.
I requested under FOI – correspondence for 2011-12 and got back a letter saying how very difficult and time-consuming it all would be and quoting me a charge of $3,562.05 which is mostly “decision-making time”, 157.42hrs at $20 per hr = $3,148.45.

Four and a half weeks “decision-making” assuming a 35hr week.
Does anybody know of any public service “decision makers” on the princely pay of $20 per hr – I am no authority on current pay rates – would some cleaners work for that ?

Labor’s Joel Fitzgibbon not enthusiastic about sacred cow green energy targets

A rare and welcome chink in GreenLabor armour – Labor’s whip Joel Fitzgibbon calls for green target cut
We have often discussed these issues here – check the Renewable Energy list.
Although not mentioned by Mr Fitzgibbon – if we keep aiming for the existing RET target while gross electricity use is declining we will for sure end up with a less stable grid sooner than expected. Welcome to the new GreenLabor world.
My comments from February point out where an ever increasing RET component of our electricty grid is taking us.
So – if you want an increaing possibility of brown outs, black outs and more expensive electricity, Vote GreenLabor.
– if you particularly want more expensive electricity, Vote GreenLabor.
– if you want to be getting up in the middle of the night when you might be able to afford to run appliances, Vote GreenLabor.
– if you will enjoy owning a portable engine driven Electricity Generator, Vote GreenLabor.
– if you will enjoy the sound and smell of portable engine driven Electricity Generators all over your suburb, Vote GreenLabor.
– if you are mechanically handy and will enjoy rigging up a household wind powered generator and like the idea of paying for that plus banks of large and heavy batteries, then paying for their upkeep and replacement, Vote GreenLabor.
Readers might suggest other reasons to vote GreenLabor.

Australian BoM bites bullet and calls off 2012 El Nino prediction – “…biggest turnaround in weather patterns since records began.”

That is a big call – like many I have been watching the SOI unable to make up its mind. Anyway – read what the Bureau of Meteorology is saying.

Stale Antarctic melting ice story from last summer suddenly goes viral on Fairfax media all over Australia

“Frozen $46m runway melting” – shouts the news on dozens of Fairfax sites from newspapers in towns large and small across our wide brown land.
This is referring to the Wilkins Aerodrome which is located about 70km SE of Casey Base and is scraped out of glacier ice about 700 metres thick.
The news of melting on the runway broke last summer – over nine months ago.
Why has the story suddenly been recycled and gone viral now ?
It is snowing and minus 9.5 degrees C at Casey this morning ?
Surely it could not be anything to do with the Govt ship Aurora Australis being icebound ? (see yesterday post below) A sort of counter story.
Click below to see text of the first 12 pages of Google searches for – “australian antarctic airstrip melting”. Google was still finding the story in obscure hamlets and villages after the 12 pages. See if you can spot your town. I have never seen anything like this.

Imagine the headlines if this happened now

Hard working researcher Lance Pidgeon has found numerous old newspaper reports of a heat wave in Central Australia in January 1932 which resulted in large numbers of bird deaths being reported from many sources.
