The GreenLeft/Albo/ALP/ABC/BoM article never mentions the term SOI???
I think it is certain that the grouping “GreenLeft/Albo/ALP/ABC/BoM” want to be able to say whatever they choose, make any claim they choose, linking “IPCC climate change or global warming” to any natural phenomena be it drought, rain, fire, flood at any time across the wide brown land. I hope the Qld Govt Department of Environment and Science keeps on producing the longpaddock time series of the SOI.

When I read this I could think of only one word. Gobbledegook.
The activists have been jumping around for decades now trying to reduce ENSO to a non-entity because El Nino’s and La Nina’s are empirically irreducible to causation by atmospheric CO2 concentrations. In short, ENSO cannot be blamed on greedy, sinful hydrocarbon consumers. The chagrin this causes activists, including the BoMbo, is enormous.
So, what to do ? Why, simply re-define ENSO out of virtual existence. Now we’ll have “Deadly Climate Change heat waves” and occasional cold “blips”. The millenial MSM will love it … so much easier then for it to frighten the horses.
The *fact* that ocean floor sediment drill cores on both sides of the Pacific (off both the Q’ld and Peruvian coastlines) show over 11,000 years of ENSO will be quietly, but gleefully, discarded.
Poor old BoM must be in a tizz with Perth not hitting 40 and Sydney making a huge record not touching 30. Despite starting new BoM pages warning us of “Heatwave Service for Australia”

What a hilarious waste of time and money. Far from heatwaves – I am wondering how many days in a row the sun can be hidden by 10/10 low clouds. The SOI remains stubbornly in La Nina zone too.
BoM should be subjected to penetrating questions at Senate estimates but little will happen and they will enjoy the usual Green Dorothy-Dixers.

Here we go again. After downgrading cyclone categories (Cat 1 down to 65kmph wind) , heatwaves from five days to three days, adjusting past temps down to meet some ‘homogenised’ gooblelygook, they’re redefining SOI.
Now they can say there are more intense cyclones, more heatwaves, greater increase in temps and other factors rather than the SOI causing disparities.
Even the NSW Fire Service has caught on to the scam by having their lowest fire warning as ‘moderate’ (no longer ‘low’). They do have a ‘no rating’ – that could be interpreted as ‘no-one has determined the fire risk for this period’.
As you say Warwick, we need some pollies with guts to take them on like Rennick or Roberts.
