  1. Actual results beyond woeful, of course.

Some comments have praised Greg Hunt (retiring at the next election) as a “competent” Minister in a number of portfolios.

My experience is that whichever portfolio he was slotted into deteriorated towards the global left with speed. Resources and Health are particularly damaged by his bias.

And ’twas he as responsible Minister that prevented Cabinet from commissioning a truly independent audit of the BoM. Abbott as PM was inadequate in resisting him – and the reason he gave Cabinet was that the BoM could lose respect if the results were “disturbing”.

Bye bye Greg – do *not* come back.

  2. ianl – Hunt did immeasurable harm by giving credence to BoM and CSIRO for falsifying raw data.
A dumb ox of the highest order.

  3. Abbott was too easily diverted from what was important. Early in 2013 plenty big talk about lining up dozens of dam sites. (not that they needed dozens) Soon as they win Gov – any thought of dams just washes away down the drain of taking politics easy and not resisting the constant drift to the left.

I am sure Abbott letting Hunt talk him out of the BoM audit was just the same sort of factors at work. Too easy to give in. Too pre-occupied with starring on the media about the 2 downed airliners. All the while Turnbull counting numbers.
