ScoMo Gov running dead on BoM evidence “Black Summer nothing to do with global warming”

Can anybody cast light on why the 9 September 2019 findings published by the BoM and the ABC about the Antarctic phenomena “sudden stratospheric warming” have been effectively expunged from history. Despite the clear statements from BoM – now the narrative that the Black Summer fires and later floods were all “due to climate change” completely rules roost in public discourse.

  1. Fascinating stuff. From the BoM article:

“But for subtropical Australia, which largely sits north of the main belt of westerlies, the shift results in reduced rainfall, clearer skies, and warmer temperatures.
Past stratospheric warming events and associated wind changes have had their strongest effects in NSW and southern Queensland, where springtime temperatures increased, rainfall decreased and heatwaves and fire risk rose.”

…and sure enough a few weeks later the bushfires were raging in NSW.

Of course you have put your finger on why the phenomenon of sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) in the Antarctic has been flushed down the memory hole – it’s just natural variability, and nothing to do with global warming. As Harry Hendon of the BoM told the ABC:

“SSW is not thought to be caused by global warming.

“We view SSW as a natural, internally-generated phenomena,” Dr Hendon said.

Wonder if that guy still has his job? His knowledge of Greek plurals might be dodgy, but his seasonal climate forecasting puts the rest of the BoM to shame.

  2. Warwick, I do expect you know the answer to your rhetorical question as well as others do.

We are constantly and deliberately lied to. Control is the key, not honest exposition. And it works … mosr people seem to have the attention span of the Lesser Alpine Gnat.

Look at the totally dishonest treatment of the cost of “Net Zero”. Apparently, asking the question, and insisting on a detailed answer, is just a scare campaign. Too granular, we are told.

  3. It is not beyond a possibility that the “sudden stratospheric warming” was due to the remains of the one or other, or both of the volcanic gas injections into the stratosphere earlier in the year. If reference to it has disappeared, then, if a reason was not known, why mention it?

  4. Is this part of that oddity which also gave Antarctica EEEVVVVAAAAHHHH this winter just past?
