BBC making Climategate movie

I just saw this news over at Watts. Many happy memories of Climategate that so kneecapped the IPCC/climate “A$%^^holes”
My various articles touching on Climategate over years. My first thoughts about the BBC movie were – IT TOOK THEM THIS LONG TO FURTHER FINESSE THEIR LIES – my second thoughts are “SELL ME THE DVD”. What a pack of lies and distortions and agitprop we can look forward to.

  1. There is a pattern I have seen over quite a few years (more than I will post). Essentially, when some really big scandal occurs, the MSM will do their very best, and their best is quite formidable for the population bulk, to downplay it, bury it, misdirect the actual point, omit vital details and generally change history if the actual fact destroys favoured lines.

Climategate was one such episode. It took many months, even a year or so, before this issue was even mentioned in the MSM, and then every one of the litany of tactics above was employed. Now, one is hard put to find people in any large numbers who ever knew what it really meant,

Current example of the MSM moving the goalposts ? Fauci partly funded the development of C-19 in the Wuhan Lab. He then lied to the US Congress about it. Yet now, with his very own emails demonstrating his deliberate mendacity, the MSM are parrotting his line about criticing him is “anti-science”. The issue, the story, about the trail of world-wide destruction from the arrogance of untouchable bureaucrats is now buried … all within about a week. Climategate was buried from the beginning.

The MSM, with their impenetrable vanity, really are the enemies of the people. The contempt they show for their audience is a two-way street, although that is cold comfort.

Ownership and control are two different things.

There are not very many owners per se and individual shareholders generally matter not. In Aus, super boards own large bulk shares and use that to push MSM boards in directions considered desirable. Staff “collectives” increasingly reinforce these directions, based on consensus politics within the staff. As long as the enterprise is profitable, owners generally aquiesce. Some outlets, such as the Guardian and the Saturday Paper, have owners with large enough pockets to support continuing losses while pushing certain lines of politics.

Warwick was a warrior in early Climategate days but sadly most younger journos would not know this and would regard it as irrelevant now anyway.

Journos tend to combine two very unattractive characteristics: impenetrable vanity and inexhaustible powerlust. Attempting to deflect onto “owners of MSM” is just an example of this.

  3. Thanks wazz but gee I’m glad I didn’t read the BBC article during or after a meal. What a barf-fest! Phil Jones a “brilliant scientist”??? Wasn’t he the bloke who answered your request for data with “We have 25 or so years invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it. ”

Now we hear that “Prof Jones became the victim of cyber terrorism with stolen emails used by human-induced climate change deniers to promote their view of global warming ahead of an international conference.” So it’s “cyber-terrorism” to publish e-mails of government officials? The only terror involved was Jones and his mates’ terror at being exposed as a bunch of data-manipulators and fact-distortors, which they were.

The new film is apparently going to tell me “how in the end despite attack from all sides, the integrity and truth of their (Jones and his mates’) important work won through”. Oh good, so it’s only science fiction. I may be able to keep my lunch down after all…

    >” …So it’s “cyber-terrorism” to publish e-mails of government officials?”

And so it is with Fauci today. Not yet cyber-terrorism, but “anti-science” to point out his own emails (from FOI) show he has lied repeatedly, including several times to the US Congress.

Climategate exposed the flimsiness of activist green science efforts. Faucigate has exposed the unimaginable – bureaucratic science research so immersed in its’ own vanity (nothing to see here) that the culpable have managed to cause severe world-wide damage. Arguably, activist green science efforts will equal that damage.

So, my thesis that real scandal (not of the “Harry Told Meeghan …” variety) is buried holds true again. I do not think it’s necessarily Left vs Right, although that’s occasionally true. Seems to me to be more of Don’t Frighten the Horses. The masses must believe in the sanctity of the institutions, else all falls down.
