  1. Jo Nova did well. She’s been hanging around with Ian Plimer a bit and it shows in her improved knowledge of mining geology – in particular the very real difference between resource and reserve. Treating the two as interchangeable and equivalent really irritates me.

There are two points she missed. The core issue is *anthropogenic* climate change, not climate change per se. Omitting the *anthropogenic* word plays directly into the glib deceit of the activists. Secondly, the MSM, including Sky, have a habit of choosing photos and videos of cooling tower water moisture emissions with the sun at such an angle is to imply black, particulate smoke (I know this works, most people actually believe it is nasty, black pieces of polluting carbon). This deceitful fallacy has been pointed out many times with no impact on this dishonest behaviour. Sky itself has run just such deceitful videos as background when Outsiders anchormen discuss the topic,, although it restrained itself with Jo Nova’s interview. However, I agree there is some publicity being organised now to highlight the weaknesses of the activist position.

Peter Ridd – now we have Fed Cabinet Ministers tut-tutting over his disgraceful sacking. But these people said nothing at all until he achieved his $260k crowdfunded target to finance his court case – then suddenly there’s a veritable storm of crocodile tears. The aim here is to convince the Uni to reinstate him without an open Court hearing (and then quietly help find him a position somewhere else so the whole thing just slowly fades). What is NOT wanted by these people is the public spectacle of activist scientists in the witness box being cross-examined under oath.

  2. Yes!! Ian… you are absolutely correct about leaving out the anthropogenic bit, at every talk fest, conference, public statement the difference should be stressed!! Otherwise, how can you deny climate change? 👍🏼🙂

  3. Just after 1hr 13mins Rowan Dean mentions bushfires at Tharwa when I think he meant Tathra.

  4. From the link to Ridd’s article:

“Professor Ridd said spending 1 per cent of funds allocated to the G[reat] B[arrier] R[eef] Foundation in the federal budget on quality assurance would be money well spent.
A spokeswoman for the foundation said it was too early to say how any of the $444 million allocated in the federal budget would be spent. “The foundation works with everyone and we aim to bring together the best people and organisations who need to be at the table to address the challenges and come up with the best solutions for the reef,” she said.”

“Come up with the best solutions for the reef” – can you believe it? The thing has been sitting there for millennia, it’s now in an enormous marine park 99 per cent of which is never visited by humans, and it needs “solutions”? What solutions? The whole $444 million for the GBR “foundation” is being thrown down the toilet.
