When did snow last fall in the Kaikohe area of New Zealand ?

This article from the Northern Advocate can not say – amazing

I have never heard of snow that far north in NZ – what can readers recall or find in archives?
The NZ herald reported in August 2011 – Snow falls in Auckland for first time in decades – I commented at the time.

  1. I saw those articles from December 2013 – I bet the Kaikohe kids had a great time ice skating. They would be wishing for the TV film crew to hit town more often with their $’s to spend.

So can anybody find a reference to historic snow in Northland ?
Some more photos of snow from around NZ

  2. Good finds Siliggy –
here they are in order –
Snow seen at Cape Maria van Dieman 31 July 1939

Snow reported Central Northland 31 July 1939

Snow seen on tops Tangihua Ranges 8 August 1904

knew the Tangihuas well – did my honours geology thesis there in 1965.

  3. ALL the warmth accumulated for the last 150 years is gone to the moon – reason Australia & Kiwiland are freezing… because the phony ‘Skeptics” believe that the moon is made from Mozzarella, is melting it every month, and the moon must be renewed…?!
