  1. Perth had another 11 mm on the 15th and rain forecast on the next 7 days. Although mostly showers. Also very cold for mid-september.

    The BoM rainfall outlook.

Most of WA has no strong tendency towards being wetter or drier than normal

The temperature outlook is similarly wrong.

  2. Perth Metro exceeded its September average of 87.4mm sometime this afternoon (Monday) and is currently 92mm. Note that the Perth Regional 9034 September average since 1876 was 79.9mm. Still a way to go to match Perth Metro’s record September of 127.6mm in 1996 or 9034’s record 199.1mm in 1923.

The interactive weather forecast maps (www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/viewer/index.shtml) aren’t what I’d call the most trustworthy crystal balls, with fairly meagre rainfall predicted this week, but there’s an interestingly intense low that their computer is guessing will form off the south-west of WA next Saturday into Sunday. It looks wet but four days is a long way from now. The forecast maps suggest the Mt Lawley record will be matched in a week and there’ll still be seven days left of September.
