Canberra Airport 55 year record for 5 consecutive frosts up to the 8th May

With the budget to be delivered tonight and the Carbon Tax about to slam into our hip pocket nerves – I thought that the assembling MP’s mostly from warmer climes might like knowing that the Canberra bleakness they had encountered was a 55 year old record. In 1957 there were 10 consecutive frosts from the 3rd to 12th May – and they were colder than this year – but the urban heat island was much less in 1957. May 2011 had a 54 year record for total frost days.

  1. Well, Warwick, one can only hope that those gathering MP’s will keep in mind the early and zealous arrival of Jack Frost, in the event of any discussions on the subject of the ETS.

  2. Don’t worry Warwick,
even now you in Canberra are getting first hand the benefit of lots of hot air; e.g. if the Budget is in surplus, why does Labor want to raise the borrowing limit by $A50 billion?

So far they’ve racked up $172 billion in deficits, and $47 billion hidden “off the balance sheet”. The current borrowing limit is $250 billion. By my reckoning that means Labor expects to have to borrow more than $31 billion in the coming year to cover expenses. It sounds more than a little SLIPPERy.

  3. Hi Graeme Inkster,

I posted a comment to you here: www.warwickhughes.com/blog/?p=1377#comment-32930

I have a post on ‘On line Opinion’ about “The ultimate compliance cost of the ETS

It would be great if you could post one or more comments with your take on the compliance cost of the ETS based on your experiences as you wrote in regulations on comments 10, 11, 15, 17 here: www.warwickhughes.com/blog/?p=1377#comment-32460 – and please do include the quote from your engineer successor about ‘brains baffles BS’ in comments #15.

  4. Commented.
Couldn’t put in “Brains baffle bullshit” in full but managed B*llsh*t.

  5. Graeme, great comment on On line Opinion. Thank you.

I’ve added a comment and asked for more 🙂 I hope you can expand (as in you other comments on WSH).

Others are encouraged to join in. This is an important issue to expose(IMO):
