AEMO forecasts large cut in the electricity spot price on 1st May

Checkout AEMO Price and Demand charts. I kept screen shots – NSW, Qld, Vic, SA all showing a greater than halving of the spot price as the 1st of May starts. But Tasmania scores a price hike that more than doubles. We will see what AEMO spot prices do in May. For snapshot of all States generation by type there is NemWatch.

  1. Please keep on keeping the screen shots, Warwick.

AEMO’s disgraceful performance over the SA debacle, plus denying by weasel sidestepping that its’ previous boss had said anything derogatory about wind and solar just 12 months ago, bluntly says it is now never to be trusted.

  2. I expect domestic energy demand in Tasmania is heavily weighted to winter, much more than any other state.

  3. Big increase in hydro generation around this time of year (going into winter) in recent years. The Tas Hydro energy in storage has declined modestly in recent weeks. I’ll continue keeping an eye on it.
