  1. I don’t watch the ABC or read its website, but the first news link on Google took me an ABC article, which did a very poor job of explaining why the ACCC fined Momentum Energy. Perhaps the ABC journalist had trouble stating the obvious; a company claiming to be Green, outright lied.

In a nutshell Momentum is purely a retailer and can’t claim its electricity comes from renewable sources or any particular source.

Well done by the ACCC BTW.

  2. The Nemwatch has the wrong coal for SA. The Leigh Creek coal quality is similar to the Collie Coal in WA it looks black and is called sub-bituminous C. There are however, Lignite deposits in SA and also large deposits of sub-bituminous coal. If SA wants to have viable industry they need to forget about wind and solar and build a brand new large (1000MW) power station at Port Augusta for cheap power.

  3. True about Leigh Creek coal quality.
But NemWatch gives much useful quick to grasp info.
More important is that Alinta is due to shut their Port Augusta coal fired gens next month – leaving SA free of coal fired gen.
    Very brave of SA Govt.

  4. OT but todays post at notrickszone may be of interest to you Warwick. You may have posted on it before.

“Homogenisation turns Adelaide Airport cooling into warming”.

  5. Thanks TedM – For a start – the GISS Adelaide Airport will be a join of Adelaide West Terrace to the Airport which only started in Feb 1955. And when the author Ed Caryl says – “I found the Australian BOM description for their adjustments for Adelaide. They do not resemble the adjustments seen above.”
The screenshots are of ACORN adjustments.
IMHO it would be pref to compare GISS adj data to the raw BoM data at – www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/
