GreenLeft Australian ABC repeats anti-coal story five times on news front page

It must cruelly piss them off that global wind plus solar electricity generation in 2014 tallied only 3.8%

This is the yarn repeated five times – Are we witnessing a turning point in the future of coal?
Here is a chart of global electricity generation –

  1. The current end of coal euphoria on the part of the ABC and the green/left generally was predictable after UN IPCC gabfest in Paris promised to “limit dangerous global temperature rise to (insert preferred number) deg by 2100”. The corollary to this pledge being higher energy taxes and anti-competitive laws guaranteed to direct ever more dollars to supporting expensive unreliable renewables technologies that just don’t work. As your graph clearly identifies, it’s axiomatic that in order for renewables to get the Green tick of approval they must be, “Tax payer subsidised, expensive, grid wrecking, often useless, approved by Greens”.

  2. Agree a neat tool – I posted on that a couple of weeks ago –

usually check at least once a day –
yesterday was very poor for wind – I have a few screen-shots.
just now 11.40 EST NSW wind is making only 1MW !! Never thought I would see that. I read where some turbines draw grid power in calms to slowly turn rotors to protect shafts and bearings.

  3. Stephen, the greentard site reneweconomy has been around for some time, at least since 2012. A few unkind souls have been known to refer to it as ruineconomy, probably pretty apt.
If you want to get some idea of the complete uselessness of wind energy just have a read of this scholarly work WIND FARMS IN EASTERN AUSTRALIA – RECENT LESSONS by Paul Miskelly.
