A few pages from American Betrayal by Diana West re Western blindness to Stalin’s 1932-33 Terror Famine

I reader asked me to hunt up this quote from American Betrayal by Diana West re the Terror Famine which killed millions of people in the USSR partly in what is now Ukraine – bottom page 103.

I was transfixed reading a few pages and decided to post them here – pages 102-103 – pages 104 105 – pages 107-107 – pages 108-109.
After reading the book in 2014 I posted – Interesting that “McCarthy style pressure” is often invoked – yet the Venona Intercepts showed McCarthy was substantially correct
There is a wikipedia page named Holodomor – a quote –
[Survival was a moral as well as a physical struggle. A woman doctor wrote to a friend in June 1933 that she had not yet become a cannibal, but was “not sure that I shall not be one by the time my letter reaches you.” The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to eat corpses died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Parents who resisted cannibalism died before their children did]

  1. It’s quite notable that the MSM, popular culture, Hollywood films and sundry, all push the “Hitler as embodiment of evil” meme while excluding by default any analysis of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and other equally obvious monsters

This to the point where younger generations (so-called X and Y) are only vaguely aware of the latter group of names but use the Hitler analogy constantly, and without accurate thought

I remember reading a few years back a weak-kneed self-justification of this from some BBC mandarin, along the lines that the Nuremburg defence (ie. just following orders) was insufficient for the Germans but quite ok for the Russians

I believe this situation is a result of the political left capturing essential control of the flow of public information. That big squeeze of toothpaste cannot be put back in the tube

  2. Excellent book. Easy to figure out what side of the issue somewhat knowledgeable people are on by how they react to it. The leftards condemn it without facts.
