Reading The ANZUS Treaty

Guest post from David Archibald –
Senator David Johnston’s dismissal as Australia’s Defence Minister came soon after he said that he wouldn’t trust ASC (formerly Australian Submarine Corporation) to build a canoe. The ASC sheltered workshop wanted to be paid $3 billion to build a submarine. The Japanese build them year in and year out for $600 million a copy. Surely an attempt to be an effective Defence Minister shouldn’t be a sacking offence in an ideal world.

  1. Tony Wabbit strikes again; but until either Malcolm considers the merit of relying upon the real sciences which actually determine the world’s weather rather than the computer model prognostications of Mann & Co (who are currently batting at 0.00000), or maybe the Foreign Minister simply steps up and bats; Prime Minister Shorten might actually morph from a Monte Python reprise into 1972 all over again. and wouldn’t that be a hoot!

  2. He wasn’t sacked for trying to be effective. He was sacked for telling the truth.
That meant that most voters suddenly started wondering why their taxes were being spent to prop up the ASC and the SA economy.
