A double dissolution election in Australia has just become more likely as Western Australia has to repeat a Senate election

WA set to return to polls after Senate election declared void – unlikely the Liberals could keep their third seat won last September. Apart from that the result is just a lottery this far out.
So if the Abbott Govt has key legislation blocked after 1 July – then the double dissolution option is back in the spotlight.

  1. The Govt is inept on too many fronts –
I doubt much could be done before WA votes again – but surely they already have assembled a team to plan ahead to the near inevitable D.D.

  2. There will a low turnout, which will favour the coalition.

David Wirripunda ran for the Nationals, a well known face here in the West. I was a bit surprised he didn’t get over the line 1st time. Maybe 2nd time lucky.
