A reader wrote in commenting that Sydney based family had reported that – “This summer has been too hot!”. I thought I would quickly run this basic check.

Just a quick look at the Sydney Obs data seems to suggest that the av max mean for summer was around 26.6C (av per month). Without doing too much research, I found that the summers of 1895/6, 1977/8, 1979/80 and 2003/4 were all warmer (even their average mean temps were warmer).
