CGPS based geodetic measurements at ten Pacific Ocean tide gauges show five are sinking, four steady and one rising 2001-2008
December 21st, 2012 by Warwick HughesJust came across this under-reported gem from Geoscience Australia, I note their disclaimer – “…the length of the time series is too short for reliable vertical station velocity estimation….”
As the years roll on these data should become more reliable guides as to the changes in tide gauge heights. But what they show so far is worth reporting.
Cook Islands – steady

Fiji – steady

Kiribati – down

Manus Islands (PNG) – down

Micronesia – down

Nauru – down

Samoa – steady

Tonga – up

Tuvalu – steady

Vanuatu – down

Marshall Islands – data too short

The CCC suggested to ABC reporters when pushed, that sea levels will sink the pacific Islands some time soon. Especially considering West Antarctic is heating 3 times faster than elsewhere!

[...] asked the astrologists from the CCC, when were the Pacific Islands going under? They’re NOT: CGPS based geodetic measurements at ten Pacific Ocean tide gauges show five are sinking, four steady… David M Hoffer at WUWT: [...]The models are still projecting reduced ice extent for both the Arctic [...]

Fascinating story quoting sinking of up to 10cm per year due to overpumping groundwater.
“Jakarta sinking as water supplies dry up”That seawall they are planning better be well done.
