Friends of North Lake, Beeliar Regional
Park,
Perth, Western Australia.

Friends of North Lake (which is just south of Murdoch University and surrounded
by suburbia), are a tiny band of locals who are prepared to put some
time in as Volunteers towards improving the natural environment of this small
corner of the Beeliar Regional Park. Activities have included weeding,
plant surveys, seed gathering and planting and we often meet by the carpark
in Progress Drive near the Farrington corner on Saturdays at 9 am, all newcomers
are welcome. Meeting day second Saturday in month.
Ask for Neil Goldsborough who can be contacted through Murdoch Uni Environment
Dept. if you are interested in helping in any capacity.
Brief notes by Neil on North Lake.
Locality Map showing where we are on
our planet. More detailed
map from Cockburn Council web site Shows our area in pale green
bounded by Progress Drv, Farrington Rd, Bibra Drv and Hope Rd. Also shows
proposed Roe Highway extension cutting through North Lake bush, which is
being opposed by Cockburn Council.
This activity will go for years so do not be put off just because Aunt
Elsie is calling in from Darwin next Saturday morning.
And nobody expects you to turn up every week but we could do with help
and next year we need a couple to run a midday barbie on work days to help
sustain the busy Volunteers.
Wayne Needham has been taking photographs, mainly of flowers to date.
Warwick Hughes has scanned these and set up this basic web site in 2002
which aimed first to have photographs of all North Lake plants easily accessible.
As of May 2004 WSH noticed the first web site on Geocities was not
working so has replaced the site here.
North Lake plant photographs.
Other aspects of North Lake environment and wildlife may be portrayed
later if new material is sent in.
