Interesting too that the day before on 12Aug1940 Hudson A16-27 ex Archerfield with crew of 6 was lost at sea off Brisbane reasons unknown little trace. The German raider Orion was around and the Canberra crash would have dominated news.
I think the crash David speculates about is likely coming up for the Morrison government in May. But unfortunately it’s unlikely to end either of Australia’s gold-plated, lemon defence contracts, i.e. the Turnbull/Pyne French submarines and the F-35 JSF.
